The decision to add a conservatory to your property may seem like a lavish expense. Still, advances in manufacturing processes have lowered costs and increased building efficiencies, making a conservatory a very affordable addition to any home or commercial location. Conservatories offer numerous benefits to their inhabitants, including improved health and increased property value.

In the past, conservatories had to be imported from England and were manufactured with wood framing that expanded and contracted in the harsher U.S. climates.  Over time, these antiquated conservatory issues formed small spaces for air to enter the conservatory and caused the HVAC systems to work much harder than originally anticipated.  Single pane glass and outdated glass coating technology also added to the inefficiencies of older conservatories. Today, conservatories can be purchased in the United States and are often manufactured with aluminum framing, which will not rust, rot, warp, or require constant finish maintenance when exposed to harsh climates. Solar Innovations, Inc.’s conservatories are manufactured from thermally enhanced aluminum to increase efficiency in your living space year-round.

Adding a conservatory to new construction or existing property renovation can increase usable floor space and offer a unique feature to your property.  Conservatories can be the focal point of your location or blend into the surrounding architecture with ease.

Conservatories can also be designed to provide health benefits to their inhabitants.  They allow natural light to enter living spaces, which allows the body to create Vitamin D.  This important vitamin aids in maintaining normal blood levels of calcium and phosphorus within the body. Vitamin D can also improve mood and prevent seasonal affective disorder by increasing the endorphins, enkephalins, dynorphins, and endomorphins found in the body.

A conservatory increases the living space of a home, thus increasing the value of the home. Unlike enclosing a porch or patio with inexpensive building materials, a conservatory can be used comfortably year-round without the worry of extreme, additional heating and cooling costs. Air in the conservatory will become hot, stagnant, and stale without proper ventilation. The use of ridge vents and windows or eave vents will prevent this from occurring. As hot air rises, it becomes trapped at the top of the conservatory. Opening the ridge vents and windows will allow the hot air to exit through the ridge vents and cool air to enter through the windows providing a comfortable conservatory temperature.

Today, conservatories can be purchased from manufacturers based out of the United States and constructed with aluminum framing, which helps lower costs and prolongs the conservatory's life compared to traditional manufacturing practices. Additional benefits of including a conservatory in your property design include additional living space, health benefits, and increased property value.
